Keep this Easter weekend fresh with an exciting and new Easter egg hunt like never before! Children and adults alike will enjoy these adventurous ideas.
This Easter weekend, give the kids of all ages a challenge with a new kind of Easter egg hunt. Forget the old standard and try something unique! Give them a laugh, an adventure or a fun experience with family and friends by trying one of these new ideas.
- Keep them in the dark! One evening during Easter break, or after the big family dinner on the big day, give all the hunters flashlights and have them begin their search! It is amazing how lost little eggs can get in the dark. Use glow-in-the-dark paint on the eggs first for a bit of a hint.
- Turn all your hunters into three-legged contestants for the event. Tie one of each person's legs to their partner, make sure it is snug and send them off. A good idea to avoid hurt legs is to use two ties; one at the ankle and one above the knee.
- Try an Easter Egg scavenger hunt. Use plastic eggs and put clues in them, the first one leads to the second and so forth. For adults you can make the clues trickier, and for children give them lots of hints. Give them a big prize at the end as a reward.
- Mini egg pinatas can be hung from trees around your yard for the children to find and break. Fill them with candy and chocolate or other treats. These pinatas are easy to make with crepe paper and glue or wallpaper paste. Use a balloon as your base and wrap layers of your paper mache' around it until it is thick enough to hold your candy. Cut off the tip of the top, fill it full of treats, then attach a string to hang it.
- Follow the string! Use string to lead your hunters to their prizes. If you're inside, tie the end of the string to something stable like a table leg. Then wrap it around the house, hiding an egg at each tie point. You can even blindfold your hunters for an extra challenge!
- Lottery eggs! Hide plastic eggs with numbers inside and have the hunters collect them. Once all the eggs have been found, hold a lottery! Pick out a random number and the person who found the egg with the matching number gets to pick out a prize. Have a variety of prizes available, and enough for everyone to have a few.
